How can I better balance my work demands with my personal life and relationships?

Understanding that our lives are complex and that we can have all the things we want, but usually not all at the same time, can be liberating. Balancing multiple roles that you play while taking care of yourself takes time, practice and wisdom.

Finding this work-life balance is a journey, not a destination. Through counseling, Ms. Kurz will help you explore:

  • Setting healthy boundaries between work and life

  • Creating sustainable routines that support your well-being and prevent burnout

These are just a few of the excellent topics and coping strategies you'll cover in counseling.

How do I deal with a difficult boss or toxic workplace environment while maintaining my mental health?

Ms. Kurz will build your toolbox with many options for responding to or having difficult conversations with a challenging boss. She will:

  • Role play different scenarios with you

  • Work with you and determine short and long term career goals at your job

  • Teach you conflict resolution skills

Ms. Kurz has taught Career Development and Counseling at graduate schools and can offer many options to navigate difficult work situations.

What is the difference between a mental health counselor, career counselor, life coach, and psychiatrist?

Each of these jobs requires different training:

  • A mental health counselor has a Master of Arts degree in Psychology and has completed all the state licensure requirements to practice. They are trained to work with couples, individuals, and a range of mental health conditions like anxiety and depression.

  • A career counselor’s training is generally either a certificate program or they have a Bachelor of Arts degree. They focus specifically on career development and job search strategies.

  • Life coaches can be anyone that feels they have wisdom to share but the title does not have any training or licensure requirements. They help clients set and achieve personal goals.

  • A psychiatrist is a medical doctor that specializes in medicines that help the brain function better. They are able to prescribe and manage medications.

Ms. Kurz is a Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).  She has a unique niche integrating business coaching, executive coaching, couples counseling, and in-person depth therapy.

Executive coaches generally cannot do therapy, and generally therapists cannot do business coaching. Ms. Kurz offers you both.
